بسیار خرسندیم به اطلاع برسانیم که در ادامه ی فصل هنر و فلسفه در روز 13 ماه آوریل مهمان سهیل پارسا نویسنده، کارگردان و مدیر هنری موسسه ی مدرن تایمز استیج خواهیم بود
سهیل پارسا در این نشست در مورد آخرین نمایش خود با عنوان " باغ آلبالو " نوشته ی آنتوان چخوف که از 26 مارس تا 13 آوریل روی صحنه ی یکی از تماشاخانه های شهر تورنتو خواهد رفت صحبت خواهند کرد و فرصتی استثنایی خواهد بود که رودررو در مورد آفرینش یک اثر هنری با او به بحث و گفتگو بنشینیم
باغ آلبالو آخرین اثر داستان نویس شهیر روس آنتوان چخوف است که به عنوان تئاتری شعرگونه توصیف شده است. شعری در مورد زندگی و مرگ، تحول و تغییر. باغ آلبالو کمدی زندگی است. روش کارگردانی سهیل پارسا نگاه مینیمالیستی تازه ای به این شاهکار کلاسیک می اندازد که به کاوش ظرفیت بشر در خودتخریبی و خودفریبی، معمای زندگی، از دست رفتن ارزش ها و تنهایی بشر می پردازد

Summary of This Play
The Ranyevskayas, a landowning family, are at the point of bankruptcy and are about to lose their estate. Lopakhin, a businessman, suggests they chop down the orchard and build houses. The family is horrified; the orchard represents the pleasant past, before the mysterious forces of the changing times threatened their idyllic existence. Lopakhin buys the land and proceeds to carry out his plan to destroy the orchard.

Modern Times Stage Company’s The Cherry Orchard runs March 26 – April 13, 2019 (Media night: March 29) at Streetcar Crowsnest (345 Carlaw Avenue) in the Guloien Theatre. Shows are scheduled Monday through Saturday at 8:00 pm with Saturday matinees at 2:00 pm


Soheil Parsa’s Biography
Soheil Parsa - Artistic Director of Modern Times Stage Company-Toronto, Canada
Soheil Parsa is an award-winning director, writer, dramaturg, choreographer and teacher, whose professional theatre career spans thirty years and two continents. In his native Iran, Soheil completed studies in Theatre Performance at the University of Tehran and began a promising career as an actor and director. Arriving in Canada with his family in 1984, Soheil completed a second Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies at York University and then went on to establish Modern Times Stage Company, one of the most innovating theatre companies in Canada. In 1995 Soheil received a New Pioneers Award by Skills for Change for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts by a recent immigrant to Canada. Soheil’s own work at Modern Times has been recognized with six Dora Mavor Moore Awards, a Chalmers Fellowship in 2002, a senior artist creation grant from the Canada Council, as well as a number of international prizes and master class requests. In 2007 and 2010 he was short-listed for the Siminovitch Prize in Theatre Celebrating Directors, the highest honour in Canadian theatre. In 2013, Soheil was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contribution as a theatre artist to Canadian society. In 2015, he was named as the best director at the Toronto Theatre Critics awards.
